What is the certificate of origin:
The Certificate of Origin (C.O.) is used by governments of the importing country and its customs authority, because custom tariffs may differ from one origin to another—especially when there are certain custom duty free or special custom duty agreements between countries. Therefore, the C.O. is considered an integral part of the set of shipping documents, as it helps determine whether certain goods are eligible for import or subject to higher or lower custom duty fees.
The Certificate of Origin should mainly contain the following:
- The name of the supplier/manufacturer.
- A description of the goods being sold.
- Sometimes the Harmonized Tariff Schedule Number is given to ensure this certificate refers to the precise product in question.
- Chamber Net stamp.
This is why we, at D.C. Consular, are very careful to have your certificate of origin go through all document legalization phases—including a Chamber Net Stamp and Embassy Legalization—properly done to your complete satisfaction. We also realize the importance of the time factor and have developed our own system to finalize your Embassy legalization work in the least time possible.
Why the U.S. is a good source for goods:
Countries around the world generally have similar import documentation regulations, where all commercial documents, document legalization procedures, and Embassy legalization service requirements aim at receiving true and authentic documents that reflect the true price, quantity, origin, and quality of the goods. The United States is considered a prime supplier for these countries because they rely on the high quality, durability, and efficiency of American-made goods, equipment, and machinery. Even agricultural and food products are known for their strictly controlled quality and suitability for consumption. Over many years of continued business with these countries, we at D.C. Consular have developed a unique and efficient path for those wishing to use our service, ensuring our clients’ satisfaction is always guaranteed.
Required Steps for Legalization:
In order for a certificate of origin to become a valid and acceptable document, it must first be notarized, then authenticated with a Chamber Net Stamp, and finally submitted to the relevant Embassy or Consular office of the destination country for final Embassy Legalization.
Why Legalization is a must:
Generally speaking, a complete document legalization process offers extra legal certainty in international trade business. After legalization is completed, the client can be confident that the document is fully valid and accepted by the connected authorities.
